Why this directory exists
I am Ryan Nesheim. I live in Rockford, Illinois, and I have run N5 Studio, a small web design studio for local trade businesses, since 2020. I built this directory because a search for a kitchen remodeler mostly returns ads and sites that pass your number to whoever pays.
I wanted a list where a homeowner can compare kitchen remodelers by what they actually do. Each listing shows the services the company's own website says it offers, its Google rating and review count, and the date it was checked. You call the company directly.
Listings are compiled from public Google Business records and each company's own website. A basic listing is free. Nobody can pay to change a rating or to rank above the first unpaid result. A paid spot is labeled Sponsored on the card. A listing carries a Verified mark only after a person has checked it. If something is wrong, or a company wants to be removed, I fix it on request.
The directory is independent. A listing is not an endorsement, and I do not recommend any company on it. Check licensing, insurance and permits before you hire.
How listings are compiled
- Public record first. Every listing starts from the company's Google Business record in Illinois, found by searching Google Maps for kitchen remodelers. Closed businesses and businesses with no reviews are left out, and so are companies whose own website shows no kitchen work. Duplicates are merged.
- Their own website second. We read each company's own website and mark the services it says it offers. If the website does not say, the listing says so instead of guessing.
- Ratings as Google shows them. We show the Google rating and review count on the date we checked, and the date is on the page. We never write reviews, change ratings or make up a score.
- The order is the same for everyone. Within a town, companies whose website says they do full kitchen remodels come first, then the rest, each sorted by rating weighted by number of reviews. Specialists in countertops, cabinets, cabinet refinishing and tile are listed below the full remodelers and marked Specialist.
Our standards
- A basic listing is free and stays free. No company can pay to change its rating or its place in the ranked list.
- Paid spots exist, and every one is labeled Sponsored on the card itself.
- We publish facts a company would recognize about itself: phone, address, hours, services. No commentary, no complaints, no opinions about anyone's work.
- Nothing is verified unless it is marked Verified. We do not check licenses, insurance or the quality of any work. Illinois has no statewide general contractor license, so check local licensing with your city or village, ask the company for proof of insurance and ask about permit rules before work starts.
- Ryan Nesheim also runs N5 Studio, which builds websites for local trade businesses. A company being an N5 client never changes where it appears, and any paid placement is labeled the same as everyone else's.
